Talkington Bates wins second sheltered homes contract
Independent contact caterers Talkington Bates has won its second catering contract for a sheltered housing site this year, beating off several other contract caterers to win the new business in Newport, South Wales.
Starting last month, the three-year contract is set to provide catering for the 38-resident Aneurin Bevan Court, which is part of the Newport City Homes sheltered housing operation.
Sarah Burt, sheltered housing manager at Newport City Homes, praised the caterer's bid for its suitability to sheltered accommodation's needs, which can demand flexibility when it comes to diabetic residents, or those who might have low cholesterol, or cultural food needs.
"Talkington Bates demonstrated to us that it puts residents first and is prepared to go the extra mile. We felt that they offer a tailor-made solution for the needs of our site," she said.
Earlier this year, the firm won a contract with sheltered housing and care service provider Retail Trust, based in London, Derby and Manchester, making the Newport win the company's second since January.
