Doubletree by Hilton to aim for 25 hotels in UK
The Doubletree by Hilton brand is set to grow to 25 UK hotels.
Rob Palleschi, global head of the upscale brand from Hilton Worldwide, said that he believed there was plenty of business in the UK to support Doubletree, which currently has eight properties here. Four more are due to open in the next 12 months, including the UK's first purpose-built Doubletree by Hilton in Lincoln.
"We currently have two hotels in London and could have up to six in the city," said Palleschi. "We are also looking at opportunities in Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle and Brighton."
Palleschi was in the UK to mark the 25th anniversary of the Doubletree brand, which was celebrated by the giving away of 2,500 chocolate chip cookies on the streets of London (see picture). The event was part of a Global Cookie Care Campaign.
"The Doubletree by Hilton tradition of a warm, chocolate cookie welcome at check-in has set a unique hospitality standard since 1986 and is symbolic of our long-standing care service culture, which inspires us to create a rewarding guest experience for our guests, our communities and each other," Palleschi said.
"We also understand that in today's dehumanising travel environment, small acts of kindness, like providing our warm chocolate chip cookie welcome, can have a positive impact on people all over the world."
Doubletree by Hilton has given away around 250 million cookies during its 25-year history.
The eight Doubletree hotels in the UK are located in London (two), Cambridge, Milton Keynes, Bristol, Chester, Dunblane and Aberdeen.
