InterContinental UK & Europe COO moves to post in Dubai
The chief operating officer (COO) of InterContinental Hotels Group in UK & Ireland is moving to Dubai to take on the post of COO for the Middle East and Africa.
John Bamsey, who has been with the group since 2001, will take up the position on 1 April continuing to report to IHG's managing director Europe, the Middle East and Africa Richard Hartman.
Hartman heaped praise on Bamsey, stating that he "has completely transformed the UK & Ireland region into a vibrant, profitable and exciting operation".
Bamsey, who has more than 12 years of senior management experience in the hotel industry with companies including Hilton and Le Meridien, said he was looking forward to being a part of the "dynamic growth and excitement" of Dubai.
"We have a number of major developments in the region including the opening of three properties at Dubai Festival City, the re-opening of the InterContinentals in Abu Dhabi and Muscat this year after extensive refurbishment, as well as the CityStars project in Cairo," he said.
An announcement on Bamsey's replacement will be made shortly, Hartman said.
