John Hanna appointed new GM at Ellenborough Park
Ellenborough Park, the country house hotel in Cheltenham, which has won a host of awards during its first year of operation, has appointed a new general manager.
John Hanna, who is also director of the Mantis Group, which manages the five-star, 62-bedroom hotel, has taken over from Graham Vass, who is acting as an ambassador for the company in the USA before moving to a new hotel management position in Lagos, Nigeria.
Hanna has previously managed the Mantis Group's two London hotels - the Draycott and the Lord Milner - after earlier working at Cliveden in Taplow, Berkshire. In his new role, his primary focus will be new business development at Ellenborough Park, alongside maintaining his directorship of the Mantis Group, which has 42 hotels worldwide.
With regards to his predecessor, Hanna said: "Graham Vass has achieved exceptional success with the recruitment and training of the management and staff for the opening of Ellenborough Park and the first year of operations. He and the team have earned multiple awards and have secured the first AA-five-star rating for a Gloucestershire hotel. My task is to build on this reputation and to extend the Ellenborough Park success."
Since opening in February 2011, Ellenborough Park has won a host of awards including being named the UK's Leading Country House Hotel and the UK's Leading Spa Hotel at the World Travel Awards, and the Hotel of the Year in the Cotswold Tourism Awards.
