Master Innholders name Michael Gray as new chairman
Michael Gray has been elected as the new chairman of the Master Innholders, after serving on the executive committee for several years.
Gray, who is the general manager of the Hyatt Regency London The Churchill and Caterer's Hotelier of the Year](http://www.hotelcateys.com/hotelcateys2009/p/3110) in 2007, will take over from managing director of the two Michelin-starred restaurant Vineyard at Stockcross, Andrew McKenzie, who has presided in the role for two years.
He is also a member of several other industry bodies, including chairman of the London Advisory Board for Springboard; a member of the People 1st steering group for the Diploma in Hospitality; committee member for The Ark foundation; and committee member of the European Hotel Managers Association.
Gray spent the majority of his career with Hyatt, having been general manager of the Carlton Tower for a number of years until Hyatt acquired the management agreement to manage The Churchill hotel in Portman Square.
Speaking about his new appointment Gray said he was both "excited and nervous" but looking forward to the challenges of the role.
He said: "Master Innholders are in quite a unique position in the country given its range of reach and the fact that we are spread out across the UK. We can embrace some of the key issues and mobilise ourselves to address these issues across the whole country.
"I'd like to dig deeper into our membership to make it more attractive for young people to come in, in order to develop the current management."
