Openings this week: Dakota Deluxe Glasgow, John the Unicorn, Stove and more
A look at the latest restaurants, hotels, pubs and bars to open their doors
Dakota Deluxe Glasgow
Ken McCulloch, 1993 Hotelier of the Year, has opened his latest boutique hotel, Dakota Deluxe Glasgow. McCulloch is pitching Dakota as a lifestyle brand, synonymous with "timeless style and exceptional service" and is aiming to expand across the UK.
Dakota Deluxe is "a higher-level product" than the two Dakota hotels that McCulloch Unique Hotels already operates, in what he calls the secondary sites of South Queensferry, Edinburgh, and the Eurocentral industrial estate on the outskirts of Glasgow.
A 90-bedroom Dakota Deluxe is set to open in Leeds following the Glasgow launch. The hotels are being developed in conjunction with Evans Property Group, which also has a stake in the two Dakota properties. The Glasgow Dakota Deluxe features a Jack's bar (named after the New York venue on Madison Avenue) and a Downstairs at Jack's restaurant, serving "interesting, fresh, sophisticated, comfort food".
