The Savoy Educational Trust has announced it is to sponsor nine scholarships worth £3,000 each at the Edge Hotel School.
The scholarships will be spread over three intakes at the UK's first hotel school run in a fully operational hotel, starting with students enrolling in June, July and September 2012.
Students will have the option of taking a one-year foundation degree or a BA Honours degree in two years. The course combines a degree awarded by the University of Essex and work in the newly refurbished luxury hotel, Wivenhoe House and restaurant in Colchester.
Ramón Pajares, chairman of the Trustees of the Savoy Educational Trust, said: "The Edge Hotel School impressed us as an initiative that will benefit the entire hospitality industry."
Scholarships will be awarded by a panel based on a combination of criteria including demonstration of how a vocational degree will help achieve applicants' goals and why they will be an asset to the Edge Hotel School and wider hospitality industry.
Applications for a scholarship can be found at www.edgehotelschool or call 01206 872858 for an application pack.
