Manchester-based Individual Restaurants is to open a 400-cover restaurant in a former Methodist church in Chester next week.

Opera Grill, which is believed to become one of the largest restaurants in the north-west of England, intends to "bring theatre on a grand scale to the food and drink scene in Chester". It will open on 4 August.

Following restoration of the Grade-II listed building, a further £3m has been invested to create the restaurant and bars on the ground floor and first floor, along with a south-facing, year-round roof terrace. It will offer "an internationally inspired grill using outstanding ingredients"and will complete the Chester Dining Quarter.

Individual Restaurants is the company behind the Piccolino; the Restaurant, Bar & Grill; Bank restaurant and Gino D'Acampo My Restaurants brands.
