Red's True Barbecue launches ‘self-help' videos ahead of Nottingham opening
The founders of restaurant brand Red's True Barbecue have created a tongue-in-cheek New Year "self-help" video guide ahead of the launch of their new Nottingham site on 30 January.
Co-founders Scott Munro and James Douglas have created 30 individual, 15-second films in which they poke fun at various self-help mantras, using dishes from the new site's menu.
Each individual video will be released daily on social networking sites Instagram and Facebook in the lead up to the new 5,500 sq ft, 160-cover Nottingham site opening.
Dubbed the "True You Programme", the comedic videos aim to lampoon the typical "banish the January blues" self-improvement advice that is often heard at this time of year, and promote the ways in which the menu items could help.
Commenting on the video project, which began on 1 January, Munro explained that it had already seen good levels of engagement and positive feedback.
Winner of the 2014 Catey Award for Best Newcomer, Red's True Barbecue first launched in Leeds in 2012, and serves a menu focused on "low and slow"-cooked, hickory-smoked barbecue meat, including burgers, sandwiches, steak, ribs and meat platters, plus sides such as bacon-wrapped jalapeno peppers, mac-n-cheese, sweet potato fries, beans, and slaw.
The brand now runs to three sites, not including the new Nottingham location, comprising Leeds, Headingley, and Manchester. Munro and Douglas have previously stated that they hope to open around 15-18 sites over the next five years.
