Thai restaurateur buys Bristol's House of Wong

Thai restaurateur Sakol Phanudom has snapped up Bristol's House of Wong restaurant which has been owned and operated by the Wong family for the past 40 years.

The Wongs opened Bristol's first Chinese restaurant, Chopsticks, more than 45 years ago before moving to the House of Wong site in Whiteladies Road.

The restaurant has 65 seats on the ground floor and includes eight bedrooms for staff, along with a toilet and bathroom, on the second and third floors.

Phanudom is refurbishing the property, which he intends to reopen early this year as a Thai eaterie called Bangkok House.

The Bristol office of Christie +Co sold the leasehold on the restaurant for close to the asking price of £150,000.
