Simon Rogan's Aulis reopening next month at double the size

Aulis London, Simon Rogan's chef's table in Soho, will reopen at the end of May with a new look that has seen the venue double in size with additional seating and a new lounge.

The restaurant in St Anne's Court will seat 12 guests per night, an increase from its original eight, while the adjoining lounge will provide diners with a space to enjoy drinks before or after dinner, following an interior redesign by Blacksheep.

Aulis London is headed by executive chef Oli Marlow and head chef Charlie Tayler and opened in 2017, showcasing a multi-course tasting menu using ingredients predominantly sourced from Rogan's Lake District farm.

The new design incorporates rich green furnishings, earthy tones and recycled materials, as well as a new natural stone countertop, while a wine store display will highlight the selection picked by sommelier Charles Carron-Brown.

Aulis' remodelled interiors and extended floor space will enable the venue to host special events throughout the year, such as tastings and supplier dinners.

Rogan opened his debut restaurant L'Enclume in Cartmel, Cumbria, in 2002 with a focus on hyperlocal and seasonal ingredients. The restaurant currently holds three Michelin stars, the top spot in The Good Food Guide and five AA rosettes. Rogan was recognised as the AA chef of the year in 2016 and is vice-president of the Bocuse d'Or UK team.

The chef opened Rogan & Co in Cartmel in 2008, which won its first Michelin star in 2018 and holds three AA rosettes. In 2016, he launched Aulis Cartmel, a six-seater chef's table experience. In 2011, Rogan established Our Farm in the Lake District, which supplies the restaurant group.

Aulis Hong Kong opened in January 2019, and Roganic Hong Kong in February 2019, which was awarded its first Michelin star in December 2019. Henrock opened in October 2019 at Linthwaite House in Cumbria.

In 2021, both L'Enclume and Roganic Hong Kong were awarded a Michelin Green Star, and the following year the group opened a Hong Kong-based bakery and natural wine bar, the Baker & the Bottleman.
