Bromsgrove school chef given award for outstanding achievement

Jess Forward, apprentice chef at Bromsgrove School, has been awarded an Outstanding Apprentice Award by University College Birmingham (UCB).

Forward, who is the first person nationally to study for a Level 4 Diploma in hospitality management, was nominated for the award by her university tutor in recognition of her academic excellence and outstanding achievement.

Alongside her full-time role at the school, Forward also undertakes weekly knowledge and management training sessions at University College Birmingham and hopes to gain the Level 4 qualification after 18 months. As part of the course, her practical culinary and kitchen management skills are assessed in the workplace every two weeks.
