Case study – Valentine fryers help school provide meals in restricted time period
Situated in the rural South-west of England in the town of Street, Somerset, Millfield School is home to about 1,200 pupils.
Using more than 200kg of chips each week, the catering team wanted equipment that would allow them to cook a substantial amount of food in a time-conscious environment.
On installing three V600 fryers a year ago, Chris Hunt, a chef at Millfield School, said: "We chose Valentine fryers for a number of reasons. To enable us to provide 700 meals within a restricted time period we need the turn-around time to be minimal, and given that Valentine fryers heat up quickly, the V600 was the perfect choice."
The V600 is compact in size and averages 57-68kg of chips per hour. With 22.5kW of power, the V600 can regain its pre-set temperature very quickly and the temperature is controlled via a patented dialogue thermostat.
Steve Elliott, regional sales manager at Valentine Equipment, explained: "The thermostat is calibrated in a way to eliminate the peaks and troughs of the oil temperature, ensuring that energy is used efficiently and the oil is kept at the desired temperature."
