National Vegetarian Week: refresh your menu
-
With the growing trend towards lower meat consumption, Quorn suggest that National Vegetarian Week is the perfect opportunity for operators to capitalise on this with 52% of consumers believing vegetarian options are better for the environment and 20% of 16-24 year olds considering themselves either vegetarian or vegan.
Tony Davison, commercial manager foodservice, Quorn Foods said: "In 2015, meat-free dishes accounted for 31% of new menu items - a rise of 18% from 2014. More than half (58%) of people who are lowering their meat intake cite health reasons; while 11% cite environmental concerns. But whatever the reasons, the trend is showing no sign of slowing. So whether you're a pub, a contract caterer, a school or a care home - a strong vegetarian offer is crucial."
"National Vegetarian Week is the perfect opportunity to get involved and discover how simple it can be. So get involved, drum up some excitement around your National Vegetarian Week menu and discover how simple it can be to make healthy, great-tasting dishes with Quorn."
