Selecta raises £20,000 for Gambian water project

Vending specialist http://www.selecta.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer">Selectahas raised €23,000 (£20,132) towards a scheme that will give 25,000 inhabitants of Gambia's Upper River Region access to clean water.

The group pledged last summer to donate €20 to UNICEF's Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) scheme for every Seattle water cooler it sold in the UK and Europe. The energy-saving cooler uses just 0.6kWh of energy a day, a quarter of that used by a 100W light bulb.

The WASH campaign will bring safe drinking water and sanitation to 50 Gambian communities and help build wells, install sand carbon filters in 50 schools and 50 health centres, launch 50 Water Committees, and introduce Water Clubs into schools.

Selecta also raised more than £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support after holding 23 coffee mornings at Selecta offices and client sites.
