Ashburton cookery school recruits James Knight-Pacheco and Phil Oram as chef tutors

Two new chef tutors, James Knight-Pacheco and Phil Oram, have joined the Ashburton cookery school in South Devon, bringing the teaching team to six working with chef director Darrin Hosegrove.

Knight-Pacheco came runner-up with friend Alasdair Hooper on the BBC show The Restaurant and was subsequently offered a year-long position at Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir, where he worked at every station.

A follow-up TV series starring Knight-Pacheco and Hooper, called Out of the Frying Pan, started on BBC2 this month.

Knight-Pacheco learnt his art at some of the country's finest restaurants including Gordon Ramsay at Claridges and the Square in Mayfair.

Phil Oram was a chef lecturer at Exeter college. He has cooked at the Grosvenor House hotel in London's Park Lane; the RAC Club in Pall Mall and Gidleigh Park under Michelin-starred chef Michael Caines.
