Belhaven puts 11 pubs on the market

Belhaven, the Scottish arm of brewer and pub operator Greene King, has put 11 freehold pubs up for sale.

The majority of the pubs, which range from the Waterline in Greenock in the west of Scotland to the most northern unit, the Crown in Keith, are currently tenanted although a few are managed houses.

Values for the freehold interest of the pubs, on the market through property agent Christie & Co, range from £200,000 to £575,000.

Jeff Myers, managing director of Belhaven Pubs, said: "We have always had a policy of both making pubs available to the marketplace as well as acquiring them, and this year is no different. These units are of good quality and would provide a great opportunity to the right operator."

Brian Sheldon, director at Christie & Co, said: "We are confident that there will be interest in all these pubs from discerning purchasers who are looking to acquire realistically priced pubs in today's market."

Sheldon added that the number of pubs and bars made available for sale since the start of the year has increased, as has the level of viewings from prospective buyers.

"Granted, values have been affected over the last 18 months and the key word is ‘realism' in any disposal or acquisition," he said.
