Darwin & Wallace to open third site, in Richmond-upon-Thames
Restaurant and bar group Darwin & Wallace is to open a third site, in Richmond-upon-Thames, south west London.
Set to open in November, the new venue will be near the river and the local cricket green, and have an open kitchen with an interior designed to work well during the daytime and evening.
Housed in a building that managing director Mel Marriott called "architecturally challenging", the interior will be created by designer Lou Davies of Box9, architect Lionel Real de Azúa of Red Deer, and graphic design agency Buro Creative.
Launched in August 2012, Darwin & Wallace was created by Mel Marriott, who was previously brand manager of All Bar One. It is backed by the Imbiba Partnership.
Commenting on the new site, Marriott said: "I am incredibly excited to be opening our third venue in my beautiful home territory of Richmond. At Darwin & Wallace we always aim to avoid the obvious in all that we do with our properties…drawing inspiration from each area's own individuality."
The group also operates No.32 the Old Town, Clapham, which opened in 2014, and No.11 Pimlico Road, which launched in 2013, with both sites reflecting the company's aim to open contemporary bars and restaurants in affluent London villages.
In 2014 the company stated that it planned a gradual roll-out across the capital, and had marked out Soho, Hampstead, Shoreditch and Islington as potential new locations.
