Grand finalists for Nestlé Toque d'Or 2009 named
The organisers of Nestlé Toque d'Or 2009 have announced the line-up for the grand final which takes place at the BBC Good Food Show at Birmingham in June.
North Devon College, Blackpool & the Fylde College, Sussex Downs College, Belfast Metropolitan College and City of Bristol College will battle it out for the coveted title from 10-14 June.
Teams will be asked to prepare and serve a three-course lunch to 100 paying diners at their unique "place to eat" under the eyes of the professional judging panel.
David Field, managing director, Nestlé Professional, said: "The entry standards in this competition just get better and better and this year, the 21st birthday of Nestle Toque d'Or has proved to be no exception.
"Students this year have had to put their creative culinary talent and business acumen to the fore to make their restaurant concept work in the reality of the tough economic climate. The five finalist teams have really taken this on board; during the heats, they have excelled in bringing their innovative menus to life with passion, professionalism and flair."
All five teams will be mentored by a Michelin-starred chef for the remainder of the competition.
