Kevin Sutherland wins inaugural Scottish Food Scholarship

Kevin Sutherland of the Rocco Forte Balmoral hotel in Edinburgh is the inaugural winner of the Scottish Food Scholarship.

His achievement was announced at an awards dinner held at the Corinthian hotel in Glasgow last night.

Sutherland wins a trip to Melbourne, Australia, to learn from Raymond Capaldi at Fenix restaurant, as well as stages at Michelin-starred restaurants Martin Wishart in Edinburgh and Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles hotel.

Sutherland beat eight other finalists to the title, which is open to working chefs aged 25 and under, during a tense cook-off held at Glasgow's Metropolitan College earlier that day.

Second place went to Tristin Farmer from Enverdale House hotel, Perthshire, and third was Lesley McQuiston from Loch Green House hotel, Troon.

Award partners included Crimson Edge PR, Braehead Foods and restaurant Martin Wishart.
