Pilsner Urquell offers £5,000 prize for its UK Master Bartender programme
Czech brewer Pilsner Urquell is looking to reward top talent in its UK Master Bartender programme with a £5,000 cash prize.
Launched this month, the competition has been refreshed for 2012 and includes the Pilsner Urquell hub at www.pilsnerurquell.co.uk.
Created to offer support to bartenders, the new website will allow them to interact with each other during the competition as well as provide access to Master Bartender training materials and exclusive registered bartender content, including competitions and industry news.
A new "train the trainer" incentive programme has also been introduced, whereby one Pilsner Urquell ambassador will be nominated at each participating outlet. Each ambassador will be provided with training tools to ensure all their bartenders complete the programme.
The first 200 trainers to enter the competition will also have the opportunity to complete the Cicerone Certified Beer Server Course along with monthly incentives to train their new bartenders.
"This year the Pilsner Urquell Master Bartender programme is bigger and better than ever," said Lucy Jordan, director of customer marketing at parent company Miller Brands. "It is key for us to ensure that our high standards as well as our passion are transmitted to staff so that consumers can enjoy Pilsner Urquell at its best."
Robert Kecskes, winner of the UK Master Bartender 2011, added: "The Master Bartender programme is a great opportunity for bartenders to increase their knowledge of the beer category, and learn about Pilsner Urquell while perfecting their bartending skills.
"Anyone that is serious about bartending should take part."
