Pint Shop secures second site

Cambridge-based pub operator Pint Shop is to open its second site in late summer 2016, this time in Oxford.

The new 5,600 sq ft venue will over a 110-cover bar area, a 110-cover restaurant, and two private dining rooms, making it 60% bigger than the Cambridge site.

The former building society in which it sits at 27/29 George Street has never been previously a pub or restaurant and will require "considerable refurbishment".

The new Pint Shop will have an expanded drinks range, with 24 keg lines, alongside draught cider.

Its design will be influenced by the features of the early 20th century building, taking on a more Art Deco feel.

Pint Shop has taken a 25-year lease on the site, at a commencing rate of £185,000 per annum.

"We're incredibly excited about Oxford. The location is perfect. There is a massive gap in the Oxford market for us. Being in the thick of the action again in the cultural hub is really exciting. Whist it will be more evolution than revolution, there will be plenty of surprises and cool new things to get excited about in Oxford," said Pint Shop founder Richard Holmes.

The landlord, Nuffield College, was advised by the Oxford office of Savills. The retained advisor to Pint Shop is twentyretail.

Pint Shop was founded in November 2013 with the aim of capturing the spirit of the original beer houses of the 1830s.
