Shropshire pub and brewery Six Bells under new ownership

Independent Shropshire brewery and pub, the Six Bells, in Bishops Castle, is under new ownership with plans to develop the site to include a new restaurant.

John and Mary Stradling bought the pub after securing investment from Central Finance that included a commercial mortgage to purchase the property, as well as a mix of regional loan funding and boat funding to develop the site and create nine new jobs.

John Stradling, commented: "Owning a pub has been a lifetime dream and The Six Bells was the perfect investment with a strong history and lots of potential.

"We currently distribute our beers to over 60 pubs and brew three standard beers and around 15 specials a year, but thanks to investment we are now looking to expand both our distribution network and our range of beers. Our goal is to increase ‘wet sales' by 50% by the end of our first year's trading and by 80%+ by the end of the second year.

"The new restaurant form part of a long-term aim to increase our dining turnover by 50%," he added.
