Suburban Style Bar Company doubles pub estate

West Yorkshire pub operator Suburban Style Bar Company has doubled the size of its estate after buying eight freehold pubs.

The pubs, which take the operator out of its Leeds heartland and into South Yorkshire and Manchester, were bought after Suburban Style Bar raised £1.6m.

The company now has 15 sites operating under the Suburban Style Bar and Drinkers Delight brands with a 16 set to open.

Andy Longman, Suburban's managing director, said: "These 10 new businesses take us further into West Yorkshire as well as for the first time South Yorkshire and Greater Manchester.

"All the new sites will be keeping their existing identity, although several will receive considerable investment to enable a refurbishment programme."

Suburban Style Bar Co has approximately 90 members of staff and its turnover for 2006/07 was £5.3m.
