Noble Inns to open Smokehouse Chiswick

Pub and restaurant firm Noble Inns is to open a second Smokehouse restaurant, this time in Chiswick.

Smokehouse Chiswick will open on 6 April on Sutton Lane North, with executive chef Neil Rankin creating the menu.

The smokehouse and grill will occupy a restored local pub, offering modern and barbecue food, alongside craft beer and ales.

Rankin's cooking will celebrate small farms and rare-breed meat such as Highland and Dexter cattle that will be butchered on site. Smokehouse Chiswick will have its own dedicated smoking shed, complete with an "ole hickory pit smoker" and Robata grill.

Signature dishes will include: rock oysters with beef dripping; chopped brisket roll with gochujang; burnt leeks with slow cooked egg; smoked lamb shoulder with polenta and raclette; and short rib bourguignon.

"We are thrilled to be opening Smokehouse in Chiswick, bringing our robust, and gutsy barbeque cooking to the neighbourhood. As soon as we saw the space, we fell in love with it, and were excited to breathe new life into this lovely old pub," said Rankin.

The pub will also feature a dedicated whisky room, and its dining room will open up onto a paved terrace and lawn, planted with beds of rosemary and a pergola covered with roses.

An oak-topped bar, backed with an original leaded-glass window, will be stocked with bottles and over-hung with industrial pendant lamps. There will be a double-sided fireplace with a wood-burner, tongue and groove cladding will panel the walls, and there will be bronze lights and reclaimed chandeliers. Tables will be scrubbed pine, with seating of long church pews covered with reindeer hides, and wooden bentwood chairs.

Smokehouse Chiswick will open on 6 April 2015, with a soft launch beginning on 26 March. It will be the fifth site from Noble Inns, which also runs: Smokehouse in Islington; the Pig & Butcher, also in Islington; the Princess of Shoreditch; and Bad Egg in Moorgate.
