Eugene Leonard joins the Connaught as hotel operations manager

Eugene Leonard has been appointed hotel operations manager of the five-red-AA-star, 123-bedroom Connaught hotel in London's Mayfair.

He joins the property from sister hotel, Claridge's, where he was director of food and beverage for four years.

Prior to joining Claridge's, Leonard was director of events for the Maybourne Hotel Group, overseeing sales and operations for all three hotels in the company: the Berkeley, the Connaught and Claridge's. He originally joined Maybourne in 2008 as head of events at the Berkeley hotel.

Born in Ireland, Leonard received an international diploma in hotel management at Shannon's College of Hotel Management. After initially working in Ireland, he moved to Zurich in Switzerland, before arriving in London to join the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park hotel.

In his new role at the Connaught, Leonard will report to general manager Nathalie Seiler-Hayez and oversee the day-to-day operations of the hotel with responsibility for both room operations and food and beverage.

Seiler-Hayez said: "With his wealth of experience in the Maybourne Hotel Group and talent for hospitality, Eugene will play a key role in continuing to ensure that our guests experience exceptional levels of intuitive service."

Leonard added: "I am truly honoured to be appointed hotel operations manager and look forward to continue building on the Connaught's positioning as one of the world's finest hotels with a tradition for delivering highly personalised and intuitive service."
