Duke of York attends relaunch of Renaissance London Heathrow
The relaunch of the 710-bedroom Renaissance London Heathrow following a £20m refurbishment has been marked by a visit from the Duke of York.
The Duke joined Surinder Arora, founder and chairman of the Arora Group, and Amy McPherson, president and managing director Europe, Marriott International, to officially launch and tour the renovated property.
Arora operates the hotel under a franchisee agreement with Marriott International.
The refurbishment has involved the addition of 61 bedrooms, the reconfiguration of the public areas to create a new Market Garden restaurant, Bar Eleven and lobby lounge, and the upgrading of 3,000 sq m of conference and events space.
Arora said: "The hotel and I have a unique relationship from my time as a waiter in the bar during the 1970s, so to be standing here cutting the ribbon more than 40 years later, remembering those days fondly, is very special."
The hotel, which is located on the main perimeter road of the airport, is headed by Stephen Clayton as general manager.
The Arora Group also manages the recently opened InterContinental London - The O2.
