SSP opens two outlets at Cardiff Airport
Travel caterer SSP, which operates food outlets in locations worldwide, has opened a Caffè Ritazza and Beer House at Cardiff Airport, following the agreement of a new five-year deal.
Premium pub concept the Beer House first opened in London in 2011 and now has eight sites at airports and railway stations across the UK.
The menu at the Cardiff Airport site will feature a number of locally sourced ingredients for dishes such as Welsh beef burger and Welsh rarebit. It will also feature a selection of craft ales from Welsh breweries including Tiny Rebel and Brains.
Coffee shop Ritazza, which was developed specifically for the travel market, operates in 21 countries with 31 sites in the UK.
Simon Smith, CEO of SSP UK, said: "Beer House and Ritazza are great brands that have real resonance with the travelling consumer. We have been working with the team here at Cardiff Airport since 2002, and we are delighted to be building on this long and successful relationship."
Debra Barber, managing director and chief operating officer at Cardiff Airport, added: "We've been making significant improvements to the overall customer experience for some time now, and the addition of these new facilities really complements the terminal's offering.
"Cardiff Airport is in an exciting phase in its development with consistent passenger growth, so it's essential to provide facilities that meet the needs of our leisure and business customer base. I'm sure passengers will like the food and drinks now on offer and will enjoy sampling some iconic Welsh products at Wales' national airport.
Earlier this month SSP announced a five-year partnership with healthy fast food chain Leon. The first SSP-operated stores are expected to open in London's Liverpool Street and Paddington stations later this year.
