Coaching Inn Group reports three-fold revenue increase at Kings Head
The Coaching Inn Group has reported a three-fold increase in revenue at the Kings Head in Richmond, North Yorkshire following a £1m investment and refurbishment.
Having reopened on 24 June after the first phase of its transformation, the 26-bedroom property has already seen average sales per week increase from £12,000 to £36,000.
Previously owned by Ashdale Hotels, it was acquired by the Coaching Inn Group in February as part of a £20m expansion programme.
The Georgian building, which first opened in 1717 when it was built as a townhouse, has benefitted from a renovation of its restaurant, bar and accommodation. It also now includes the group's Eatery and Coffee House concept.
Kevin Charity, founder and managing director of the Coaching Inn Group said: "The aim of the work was to give this historic coaching inn a new lease of life, whilst maintaining its Georgian architecture. "We're delighted with the outcome and have already seen a significant uplift in food and drink sales, with a three-fold increase in revenue since the refurbishment."
He added: "The Kings Head is a great example of what we do and the locations we are looking to expand into, this historic property benefits from being in a prime location on the town's square and we hope we continue to be known as the go-to-place in Richmond for family-friendly, relaxed all day dining."
In addition to the refurbishment work, the Kings Head has recruited a further 30 staff members.
The Coaching Inn Group has 11 hotels across Yorkshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Gloucestershire, Cambridgeshire and Wales.
It aims to add another four properties to its estate this year.
