Chef-patron Mark Birchall has announced the launch of a second dining room at Moor Hall restaurant with rooms in Aughton, near Ormskirk, West Lancashire.
The Barn will open on 25 October and will feature a 65-seat dining room on the first floor. The interior design features original beams and rustic brickwork, with an open kitchen and integral bar.
Over the next few months, the ground floor will include a small dairy, a bakery, a meat-aging and curing room and a mini brewery.
Aaron Harris, previously at Sixty One Restaurant in London, has been appointed head chef of the Barn.
At lunch, the Barn will offer a three-course set menu at £23 (or two courses at £19), while at dinner there will be a more extensive à la carte menu. Starters will be priced from £6-£13, main courses £12-£33, and desserts at £7.
Typical dishes will include baked scallop, leek and potato; mushroom risotto with marrow and crispy chicken wing; Goosnargh chicken with celeriac purée, grilled Gem lettuce, grains and cheese; Herdwick lamb, broccoli, whey onions and anchovy; chocolate délice with almond and bitter orange; and carrot cake with salted caramel, walnut and gingerbread ice-cream.
The 50-bin international wine list will feature 15 wines by the glass (from £4), with bottles from £20. There will also be a cocktail list and a range of craft beer.
Birchall launched Moor Hall in spring 2017 with business partners Andy and Tracey Bell. The restaurant was awarded a Michelin star in the 2017 guide.
