Tamarind has appointed chefs Karunesh Khanna and Manav Tuli to lead the reopening of the Mayfair restaurant in October following an extensive refurbishment of the site.
Khanna described the move as a “once in a lifetime opportunity” while Tuli said joining was “an easy decision”.
The menu is expected to further push the boundaries of UK perception towards Indian cuisine – looking to subtle and delicate flavours from across the subcontinent to create light and shareable dishes.
Tamarind was the first Indian restaurant to win a Michelin star, which it still holds in the 2018 guide.
The two chefs will command the kitchen following the restaurant’s £4m Sagrada makeover – which will see Tamarind expand onto the floor above the previously established basement dining room.
On his appointment, Khanna said: “Tamarind are moving to a different level in the market, and the chance to be a part of this exciting journey and take an already fantastic brand to these new heights is something I found impossible to turn down.”
Tuli added: “We’ll be creating something new and exciting and I couldn’t resist this challenge.”
