50% of consumers plan to reduce spend in coffee shops

More than 50% of consumers are likely to reduce their spend in coffee shops.

This was the interesting conclusion highlighted in research published by Mintel in February; particularly as the growth in coffee shop sales has seemed unstoppable in the last few years….

However, 17% more people are now bringing lunch to work compared to a year ago. It does raise an interesting question for employers ‘are you geared up to replace the coffee shop'? These consumers are looking for better value and great tasting alternatives.

They still want to drink cappuccino, latte, mocha. The demand for these coffees is now ingrained in the national taste buds as shown in the latest research from Nielsen where speciality coffee grew by 5.8% during 2008, outperforming the rest of the market. And as the recession bites, they also want brands they know they like, ones they can trust. Having the right range of beverages is an important factor in creating and maintaining employee well-being.

For many employers, the Nescafé range of instant coffees is the ideal solution. Nescafé is the No 1 consumer brand, it has strong customer loyalty with 49% saying it always delivers great tasting coffee (according to research conducted by Nestlé in 2009) and it offers the market -eading Original and Gold Blend together with the full range of specialities.

Nestlé Professional, suppliersof Nescafé coffees, can offer a wide range of tailored beverage solutions creating shared value with the industry and supporting employers who are looking to optimise coffee in the workplace.
