Ampersand secures £28m contract at Kew Gardens
Ampersand has been appointed as the new catering partner at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, in a five-year deal worth £28m in total turnover.
The caterer, replacing Peyton and Byrne, was selected after a competitive tender process. Set to commence on 1 November, the contract will see Ampersand provide catering services at venues across the Kew Gardens estate including: the White Peaks cafe, Victoria Plaza cafe, the Orangery restaurant and the Pavilion restaurant.
Jill McLaughlin, director of corporate services at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, said: "Appointing a new catering partner is one of the most important changes we're making this year and we're delighted to be working with Ampersand.
"Providing excellent, inspirational, good value-for-money food, with friendly, superior service in attractive surroundings is essential for us to succeed as a world-class visitor destination. We're very impressed with Ampersand's professional and creative approach, and it's clear that they understand our vision and needs and share our values."
A new cafe called the Botanical is scheduled to open later this year to provide an additional food offering to Kew's 1.5 million annual visitors.
Incumbent caterer Peyton and Byrne will continue to operate at Kew until the end of this month.
