Aramark scoops £7m University of Worcester deal
Aramark has picked up a bundled services contract at the University of Worcester worth around £7m.
The five-year deal has an option to extend for a further two years and began at the start of the autumn term.
Aramark has assumed responsibility for catering services, retail, vending, hospitality services and summer school catering across three sites: St John's Campus, City Campus and the Riverside building.
The university is currently going through a period of growth with the opening of the 2,000 seat Worcester Arena sports venue due to complete in 2013. It will incorporate a reheat kitchen facility to serve the university's hospitality functions, which will be supported by the St John's central production kitchen.
Richard Arnell, Aramark's director of operations, South West, said: "Our new contract will see us putting into practice core Aramark principles of service excellence and innovation, ensuring we help create a great university experience for students and staff alike.
"As with all our university contracts, feeding students, staff and visitors is only the start. We'll be managing relaxing and stimulating spaces which make great meeting places for those already at the university and superb selling points for those thinking of studying at Worcester."
The contract caterer now boasts a burgeoning portfolio of higher education portfolio that includes the Universities of London, Salford, Sunderland and York St John. It also commenced a new contract at the University of Westminster earlier this year.
