Catermasters supports Dallaglio Flintoff Cycle Slam 2012
Catermasters is supporting a 1,784-mile bike ride from Greece to London by cooking all the food that will be eaten along the way.
More than 250 cyclists, including the caterer's joint managing director Nigel Johnson and financial director Tony Bobath (pictured), will take part in the Dallaglio Flintoff Cycle Slam 2012 - the brainchild of former England rugby player Lawrence Dallaglio and former England cricketer Freddie Flintoff.
A three-strong team of Catermasters chefs will follow the group in a mobile catering unit, armed with a list of recipes designed to give the riders all the nutritional energy they'll need to complete the distance.
The epic cycle ride, which sets off from Athens on 23 April and finishes 28 days later at London's Olympic Park, aims to raise more than £2m for the Dallaglio Foundation, AF Foundation and Virgin Unite charities.
Johnson said the company felt compelled to lend its support.
"Everyone that takes part will know that the further they travel the more money they will raise for three outstanding charities," he said.
"It will be our job to make sure they are properly fed and watered at each of the 22 lunchtime halts so they can keep going and raising even more money. We're really proud to be associated with such a fantastic event and Tony and I are looking forward to taking to the roads and doing our bit as competitors."
The organisers of the Dallaglio Flintoff Cycle Slam welcomed Catermasters' involvement and said: "We are pleased to have Catermasters on board. This is an epic challenge of vast proportions and we have a team of cyclists who are going to appreciate the support of Catermasters as they make their way along the route."
Each Cycle Slam rider is expected to raise in excess of £3,000 to support Dallaglio and Flintoff in reaching their fundraising goal of £2,012,000.
