Compass completes revamp at Edinburgh Zoo
Compass Group has completed the second stage of a major investment programme at its £26m contract with Edinburgh Zoo.
The caterer's leisure team, in partnership with 442 Design, has revamped three more of the venue's food kiosks.
After Compass won the deal worth £2.6m a year last April it launched the Grasslands Restaurant and Jungle Food Court, which have since won awards for their design.
The three latest eateries to undergo renovation are the Gourmet Popcorn Kiosk, the Sweetie Shop and the Big Griller BBQ, a new outdoor barbecue space.
"We have refurbished a disused ice-cream kiosk to become the new ‘on trend' Gourmet Popcorn Kiosk, while the Big Griller is an outdoor barbecue space that transforms the existing picnic area into a commercial space with a retail function," explained David Dunn, managing director of 442 Design.
"The Sweetie Shop is situated in a prime location and we have increased the number of service hatches from one to three to improve operational efficiency and reduce queuing time, which will help increase revenue."
