Compass Group wins Mercedes-Benz World catering deal
Compass Group has been named as the new caterer at visitor attraction Mercedes-Benz World in Weybridge, Surrey.
Last month, incumbent Searcys 1847 revealed it had not taken part in the new tender, due to the client's desire to "shift the contract away from a management fee to a commercial business".
Compass, which started work at the site on 1 February, will look after Café 1886, the Silver Arrow staff restaurant, which serves more than 200 employees, vending, conferencing, banqueting and catering for indoor musical events at the site.
The caterer will also run the Gullwing fine-dining restaurant, which will close on 27 February for refurbishment, re-opening on 31 May.
Peter O'Halloran, managing director of Mercedez-Benz World, said of the contract award: "Our visitors can expect to receive the same high standards from our award-winning team of chefs, and exclusive menus with produce from Jody Scheckter's Laverstoke Park Farm.
"With 3,000 events under our belt since launch in 2006, we look forward to working closely with Compass to exceed our guests' expectations and grow our offer as a conferencing venue," he added.
