Green Apple award for Winterhalter UK
Winterhalter UK has won the 2012 Green Apple award for its energy-saving UC Series of under-counter warewashers.
The Green Apple Environment Awards launched in 1994 by The Green Organisation aim to recognise, reward and promote environmental best practice.
Judges praised the developing technology that has allowed the company to incorporate heat exchangers into an under-counter machine for the first time reducing energy consumption by 0.1 kWh per cycle.
Stephen Kinkead, managing director, said: "This prestigious environmental award is a great tribute to Winterhalter's R&D programme"
"Our IRT (Intelligent Resource Technology) initiative is all about reducing consumption of energy, water and chemicals and, consequently, running costs. To have this authoritative acknowledgment of our commitment helps us and our business partners, consultants and dealers, to drive the environment message home to end users."
The awards were handed over by the three founders of K9 Angels, the charity devoted to saving stray dogs in places like Romania and Thailand. They are singer Pola, actress Anneka Svenska and model Victoria Eisermann.
