Lindley Heritage lands £5m RAF Museum contract

Lindley Heritage has shot down 19 other operators to land a £5m catering contract for the RAF Museum in Colindale, North London.

The seven-year deal will see the operator develop the two restaurants and cater for events at the museum, which attracts over 220,000 visitors a year.

Lindley has plans to re-fit and re-brand the Wing restaurant, which was previously self-service, to offer table service with a menu focusing on British dishes. A series of signature dishes are also planned, which will be promoted on a weekly ‘Wartime Specials' menu.

Meanwhile, the Wessex Café will offer a grab-and-go lunch offer with a self-service counter designed in the shape of a Wessex helicopter.

Vicki Hibbert, corporate events manager at the RAF Museum, said: "In reviewing our catering services we wanted a fresh, new and dynamic approach which would re-invigorate our offering and enhance the experience for our visitors by raising the bar in terms of the quality of food and level of service.

"The concepts and ideas put forward by the Lindley Heritage team are bespoke to us. They weave the history and atmosphere of the museum throughout the entire catering offering from the themed menus to the new décor in the Wessex Café, all of which will combine to offer our visitors a unique and memorable experience."

Jonathan Davies, the Lindley Group's sales and marketing director, added: "Being awarded the RAF Museum contract breaks new ground for us as it is the first museum to become part of the Lindley Heritage client portfolio, and having the opportunity to run the catering services at this iconic site firmly cements our position in the London hospitality marketplace."
