Patrick Moore named Care Cook of the Year
Patrick Moore has tasted victory in the National Association of Care Catering's annual challenge (NACC) becoming the 2007 Care Cook of the Year.
Dorset County Council cook Moore was among eight finalists that had to create a dish costing under £1.20 for two courses that tasted great and met the nutritional guidelines for care catering.
Moore won the national competition with a dish of pork and mixed bean casserole with potato, chive and apple rosti, carrots and leeks, followed by a sticky date pudding.
Derek Johnson, deputy national chairman of the NACC and competition organiser, said: "It amazes me every year the quality and variety of dishes the cooks produce on such a tight budget."
