People 1st appoints two new trustees from Compass and Sodexo
People 1st, the sector skills council for hospitality, has appointed two senior figures from contract caterers Compass Group and Sodexo to its board of trustees.
Robin Mills and Natalie Bickford, the HR directors for Compass and Sodexo respectively, join the board, which already holds representatives from McDonalds, Barceló Hotels, and contract caterer Holroyd Howe.
Mills said: "The skills agenda is one that Compass is very concerned with, and it has taken an active involvement in the development of the National Skills Academy through the Junior Chefs Academy, as well as supporting the Great Places to Work campaign.
"Training and development is fundamental to the future of our industry, and the work of People 1st is key to ensuring that the right qualifications and funding are available to employers."
People 1st chief executive Brian Wisdom said: "The support of industry is vital to People 1st and I am delighted to welcome these new additions to our Board of Trustees.
"There is a lot of work to do to improve our sector's reputation in the run-up to the 2012 Olympics. Robin and Natalie will offer us additional insight and expertise in the area of contract catering, as well as partnership with two of our industry's leading companies.
Last month McDonald's and Compass Group were just two of the many major hospitality industry employers that signed up to support a new People 1st led TV ad campaign promoting a career in the industry. A series of TV adverts, which debuted on Channel 4, will direct teenagers to the microsite Great Places to Work.
