Sodexo celebrates 25 years of Healthwise programme
Sodexo staff this week celebrated the 25th anniversary of its Healthwise well-being programme at a lunch held on HMS Belfast.
More than 60 guests, including a number of Sodexo's key clients and its ambassador, Matt Dawson, attended the lunch to celebrate 25 years of one of the industry's first health and well-being programmes.
Healthwise was introduced in 1985 for staff, customers and clients across all of Sodexo's business sectors and has since become central to its approach to procurement, kitchen practices and menu planning.
Sodexo held a number of activities across its business throughout 2010, including staff healthcheck days and a staff pedometer challenge.
Aidan Connolly, Sodexo chief executive, hosted the event: "As a company, we have been looking at ways in which to tackle such issues long before it became popular to do so. It is up to our industry to ensure that we do everything we can to help educate our staff, clients and customers about the lifestyle choices they make.
"Tackling poor nutrition, obesity and health & well-being is as high on the social and political agenda as ever," he added.
Dr Dorian Dugmore, a keynote speaker at the lunch, said: "Sodexo is to be congratulated for really focusing on ‘upstream medicine', preventing disease and promoting wellbeing. As a company, through Healthwise, Sodexo is really leading the way in corporate wellness."
