Anouska Hempel designs new West London hotel
Actress turned interior designer Anouska Hempel has created the look for a new mid-market hotel in West London.
More used to working in the luxury sector, having designed Blakes and the Hempel, she has now produced the design for the 80-bedroom La Suite West hotel, which has just opened on Inverness Terrace, close to Hyde Park.
Located within a row of 19th-century townhouses, the hotel has a contemporary, sharp look infused with Hempel's signature Asian details. Bedrooms are predominately black and white with individually crafted four-poster beds and thick, black wooden shutters.
Outside, a landscaped private terrace incorporates crisp lines of pruned plants, trees and hedges complemented by American white oak benches and large hurricane lamps.
In the 50-seat restaurant, head chef Marcello Kamininski has created an international all-day menu, alongside a Honestly Healthy selection of dishes - containing alkalising ingredients - devised by chef Natasha Corrett and nutritionist Vicky Egson.
La Suite West is owned by Meir Abutbul, who also owns the 47-bedroom Blakes hotel, which Hempel founded in 1978 and later sold.
Room rates at the property, which is a member of Design Hotels, start at £179.
