Chris Timbs of Hilton scoops Young Marketer of the Year award
Chris Timbs of Hilton Hotels & Resorts has been named the Young Marketer of the Year 2012 at the Hotel Marketing Association's annual awards, held today at London' Savoy hotel.
Katie Scott of Rockcliffe Hall was named runner-up, while Geoff Morrison of Crieff Hydro was given a highly commended.
Now in their 19th year, the other awards announced saw two companies scooping double awards.
Accolades for Best Social Media Campaign and Best Marketing Activity Hotel Chain went to Aloft Hotels for its Play & Stay music promotion. The judges praised the initiative - which encouraged young musicians and bands to audition in the brand's hotels in return for a free overnight stay and possible chance to record - for its innovation, creativity and ability to reach its target generation Y audience.
The Best Marketing Activity award for an individual hotel or conference centre went to the Corinthia London hotel for its Above & Beyond promotion to launch seven luxury penthouse suites during an economic downturn, with impressive results. Meanwhile, the Corinthia's agency Inaria picked up the Best Agency Campaign for the same promotion.
Linda Moore, chairman of the Hotel Marketing Association, said: "We were delighted to receive a record number of entries for the awards this year and the judges were extremely impressed with the quality of the submissions. It is proof that there are some great hotel marketing campaigns out there."
