Dixon hotel to open next year
Further details have been revealed about the Dixon hotel set to open autumn 2018 under Marriott's independent Autograph Collection.
Real estate investment, development and asset management company Dominvs Group is developing the 193-bedroom boutique hotel at London's Tower Bridge, having acquired it in 2014.
Jay Ahluwalia, a director of Dominvs Group, said: "Travellers no longer want just a comfortable night's stay, they want to be immersed in the local community. The Dixon will offer a unique take on the boutique hotel experience offering guests a neighbourhood feel in the heart of the capital."
The property was originally designed as a Magistrates' Court and police station in 1905 by John Dixon Butler, and will undergo an extensive restoration to regenerate its original features, including its courthouse. Work at the hotel is being undertaken by contractor McAleer & Rushe.
Interior design by Twenty2Degrees will include simple brickwork, large windows and modern furniture from British designers alongside more classic pieces and curated artworks from local artists.
The hotel will support also local art with a cultural programme selected by the hotel's cultural committee, and guests will have special access to local theatres and studios.
Dominvs is also developing a 132-bedroom hotel on Ludgate Hill, close to St Paul's Cathedral in the City of London, a hotel on Old Marylebone Road in London's Westminster, and a Courtyard by Marriott in Oxford. The group has two hotels open, the Crown Plaza and Holiday Inn Express at Aberdeen Airport.
