John Stuart, chief operating officer at RBH, said: "We're very excited about Hampton by Hilton London Gatwick Airport joining the Redefine BDL Hotels' portfolio.

He added: "We will bring our wealth of experience in running airport hotels at Heathrow, Glasgow and Manchester to bear, ensuring all of our guests have a fantastic experience when they come to stay at Gatwick."

Stewart Campbell, managing director at BDL, said: "It is great to continue the growth of our UK hotel portfolio and to add a new brand in Hampton by Hilton. This will see us build on our already strong relationship with Hilton and ensure this hotel is an excellent investment for the new owner."

The firm describes itself as the UK's largest hotel management company and works with international hotel brands including InterContinental Hotels Group, Hilton Worldwide, Starwood, AccorHotels, Marriott International and Wyndham. Its portfolio has more than 10,700 rooms and 4,500 staff across the UK.
