Karl Rochford appointed head chef at Gisborough Hall

Karl Rochford has been appointed head chef at Gisborough Hall to oversee its Chaloner's restaurant and G Bar and Bistro.

Rochford joins the 71-bedroom, four silver-AA-starred property from his role as head chef at Solberge Hall in Northallerton, North Yorkshire. He previously worked as Gisborough Hall's banqueting chef and head chef at Hall Garth hotel in Darlington, County Durham, for seven years.

He will be introducing new Sunday lunch and afternoon tea menus, as well as a ‘Taste of Yorkshire' sharing platter.

He said: "One of my aims is to create awareness within the local area about what we offer. After all we are a local business, for local people as well as those visiting the area."

Amy Baker has also been appointed Gisborough Hall's new operations manager.

Built in 1857, the Grade II-listed Gisborough Hall was restored in 2002 by its owners, the Gisborough family. It was initially run as a Macdonald Associate hotel until April 2017 when Lord Gisborough took over the management of the property with a newly appointed board of directors.

The property employs more than 100 people, with more set to join as part of its recruitment drive and the opening of a new multi-million-pound spa which is hoped to be open by Christmas 2019. The business is recruiting catering assistants, room assistants and welcome hosts.
