Ottolenghi Group gets green light for £2m Richmond restaurant

Ottolenghi Group has been granted planning permission to open a restaurant in London's Richmond.

Documents seen by The Caterer on the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames Council website show the application was made on 12 December 2023 and granted on 29 January.

The 232 sq m site on Hill Street will be an all-day operation with five existing employees and a total of 45 proposed staff.

The project is estimated to cost "up to £2m" and building works are expected to be complete by May this year.

As of 29 January, the project has received four letters of objection from local residents due to concerns over noise, smells and adequacy of parking, as well as one letter of support, which stated: "Ottolenghi will be a much needed asset to Richmond."

The proposal comes soon after the launch of Ottolenghi Hampstead, (pictured) in north London in December.

Ottolenghi was founded by Yotam Ottolenghi in 2002 and now has six delis across London, as well as two standalone restaurants, Nopi and Rovi.

Ottolenghi Group has been contacted for comment.
