Carluccio's celebrates 100th opening
Italian restaurant chain Carluccio's is celebrating today after opening its 100th UK restaurant.
The 132-cover restaurant opened in the intu Metrocentre in Gateshead today, with 80 covers inside and another 52 on the restaurant's ‘semi-alfresco' indoor terrace.
The new restaurant follows recent openings including the Exchange in Chelmsford's High Chelmer Shopping Centre, which opened on 29 July, and the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet in Swindon, which also opened its doors today.
Carluccio's chief executive Neil Wickers said: "Reaching 100 UK outlets is a significant milestone for the business and makes me very proud. Carluccio's is entering a period of faster growth with a UK brand roll out of around 12 sites per year. In line with our new generation store at Spitalfields, London, which opened earlier this year, we are also refurbishing a number of restaurants."
Carluccio's reported a UK turnover of £137.8m in the year ending September 2015.
