London could soon be saying "Thank you very much" and curling its lip as Sid Shaw, the man who challenged and beat the Elvis Presley Estate in the US courts, plans to open a global chain of Elvis-themed restaurants, beginning in the capital.

Shaw has said that he wanted to open Elvisly Yours restaurants in every major city in the world outside the USA, where he does not have the rights to use the Elvis name.

"Every aspect of the restaurants will be Elvis-themed," said Shaw. "There will be a 25ft-high animatronic 1950s Elvis, and you enter the restaurant through his legs, with Elvis saying ‘Thank you very much', moving his hips and curling his lips. The menu, cocktail list, plates, mugs, napkins - everything will be 100% Elvis."

Shaw said he planned to open the first Elvisly Yours restaurant in London next year, followed by outlets in Toyko, Dublin, Berlin, Paris and Rome.

The restaurants, which will occupy 10,000sq ft to 11,000sq ft, with space for 300 diners, will cost between £1m and £3m to set up.

Shaw said that the restaurants would offer great food, great atmosphere, great music and great entertainment, as well as Elvis impersonators.
